Mission statement:
to develop compassionate, inquisitive, and ethical
learners prepared for roles of leadership in the global community.
Description: Colegio Internacional de San Salvador is a private
school located in a converted mansion in an upper-middle class residential
section of San Salvador, the capital city of El Salvador. It was founded
in 1979 and enrolls 330 students from kinder through 12th grade. About
45% of the students are from El Salvador, 25%, from the USA and the
remaining 30% from 30 or so countries around the world.
Instruction is basically in English with either regular
or special Spanish required of all students. The 38 faculty members
are about half from the US and the others from El Salvador. A few are
from third countries (India, etc.).
Colegio Internacional believes in multi-cultural and individualized
learning and a strong emphasis is placed on sports.
The school day is from 8:00 to 3:00, Monday through Friday.
The calendar is from August to June.
Although we believe that a strong religious foundation is
an important element in the development of a child, no particular religious
doctrine is imparted during class hours.
Our visiting students always present a cultural program
about El Salvador and are prepared to talk to classes and community
groups about life here.
CISS is proud to be a member of ISSE since 1983.
