DESCRIPTION:
Saint Anthony School, located in Moravia,
a small village 5 miles away from the capital city, San José,
Central America was founded in 1970.
Surrounded by approximately 4.000 square meters of gardens, it is a
private, bilingual (Spanish/English) elementary school with 500 students,
and a staff of 30 members. It is not a parochial school. On the other
hand, it is run by a group of 10 teachers, an architect and administrator
who are member of the board. It has a nice atmosphere where education
has a holistic orientation. Our logo: Love, Wisdom, Service, reveals
our ideals.
Saint Anthony entered the program of Schools associated
to UNESCO in 1982 and since then has worked on human understanding and
preservation of our world. Great emphasis is given to creative work
in Literature as well as in Science, Math, Music Art and Computer Lab.
Great importance is also given to sports. The Students Council
is elected following the same democratic procedure of our Nations
government. Our students are oriented towards self sufficiency in their
studies.
Saint Anthony joined the I.S.S.E. in 1988. Our main
interest is to share experience with other countries and learn about
the different school systems, languages other than English, customs,
songs, and typical dances.
